The healing nature of art and the magic of a wish can transcend both pain and fear. In this spirit, Make-A-Wish Hong Kong and JPS Gallery proudly present "Seeds of Wishes"—the dream solo art exhibition of thirteen-year-old Wish Child, Yat Long.
In 2023, Yat Long’s life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with a life-threatening disease. His journey was marked by immense hurdles—intensive chemotherapy, a stay in the PICU, and a gruelling lung infection. Yet, through every trial, Yat Long remained remarkably brave and positive. He maintained a pure-hearted innocence that allowed him to find beauty even in the hospital. By 2025, he successfully completed his treatment and is now joyfully resuming school and everyday life.
Throughout his recovery, Yat Long found comfort in art. His wish is to hold an art exhibition to share his journey with the world. Yat Long’s collection is deeply personal: his earlier works, created in the hospital to document his life and the medical care team around him, are rendered exclusively in black markers. This choice was a necessity born of caution—to avoid excessive chemical exposure and to meet strict infection control requirements during his treatment. As he moved toward recovery, his world bloomed into vibrant colors. His work also features his favorite things—dinosaurs, railways, and his dear friends and family. Friendly and resilient, Yat Long is now ready to share his story and his art with the community.
