Wabori (和彫り) tattoo master and Ukiyo-e painter, Horihiro Mitomo engages with the traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e in popular culture. Also internationally known as a horoi-shi, tattoo artist specialising in Tebori (手彫り), “hand carved” tattoo.

Horihiro is committed to preserving the traditional tattooing techniques, incorporating conventional colour palettes and lines with modern painting and using tattooing techniques in his Ukiyo-e paintings. He also deliberately preserves Sanskrit in his tattooing works – bringing the audience a glimpse of the fantastic old floating world in the modern light.

Horihiro has been in the tattoo industry for more than twenty years. He has worked with numerous international brands, including Adidas, Puma, Vans, G-shock, and DC Shoes, for collaborations. Horihiro was also featured by various Japanese and international media publishers, including Vice, Hypebeast and LADbible.
