Weng’s work is based on rustic woodcarvings. She enjoys incorporating humor into her sculptures and using metal materials like hinges to create movable parts that open and close unexpectedly. Weng’s artistic expression stems from a deep desire for communication—Weng hope viewers will engage directly with her work rather than simply observing it from a distance. Growing up in a rural area of China, Weng was strongly influenced by the ancestral worship statues in her hometown. Additionally, her work critically examines both Japanese and Chinese societies, offering viewers a perspective that goes beyond the surface.
