Amidst the clamouring changes of the world, I go back to my inner space by creating this series of green and red.
Through primary colours and simple compositions, these paintings allow me to express my inner self in peaceful solitude.
The presented paintings are testimonies of my explorations with colour theory. For me, the colour green itself is a symbol of emotions. However, when red was layered onto the canvases, lively youthfulness was exuberant through the melancholy.
Just as the palettes of spring, the colours of flowers and plants, the combination of the two colours symbolises the vivacity and vigour of life. The seemingly clashing colours of red and green give a transparent and clear appearance to the skin of the figures. They look younger than the previous figures that I have painted. This rejuvenation emphasises their lushness and femininity.
This presented series of paintings is one that came from intimate thoughts. The figures on the canvases are the voices of my self-empowerment, guiding the navigation in finding my true self. Like the cycle of seasons, women give renewed vitality to life and themselves – a union of gentleness and strength.
In times of confusion, we ought to find our original form and let our true colour shines. Through finding appreciation and love in ourselves, we could bloom to the fullest.
