Anouchka Gérard’s tapestries unfold like living cities in which architectural forms behave like organic matter, growing without boundaries—creating spaces that appear free to sing and breathe, and transforming static surfaces into dynamic ecosystems. Her rhythmic plaster bas-reliefs extend this exploration into memory and time, creating labyrinthine territories that operate as archaeological records of creative process, preserving anxieties and gestures into permanent form.
Dourone’s practice serves as a meditation on the tangible and intangible forces that shape human experience and social transformation. His understanding of “humanity’s reset” is envisioned as an ongoing process rather than a fixed event, reflecting what he describes as a “subtle metamorphosis of our collective consciousness.” Dourone’s philosophical approach adds existential depth to the exhibition’s visual investigations.
Mao Yu Qiu examines the emergence of power structures within ordinary social interactions. Her work, “Let us ask what the matter is with the ice cream,” reveals how expertise becomes performance in contemporary society. In this piece, the act of listening with a stethoscope—a symbol of medical authority—transforms into an empty ritual of social positioning. Meanwhile, in “So how heavy is my finger?” she literalises the weight of power by placing a finger on a scale, cleverly converting the body’s most delicate appendage into a measurable instrument of authority.
Ricko Leung’s mixed-media practice captures the delicate balance between vulnerability and resilience in urban existence. Her work transforms the tension between organic life and metropolitan environments into a meditation on emotional survival, with expressive stitches and entangled strings that mirror the complexity of seeking stability within chaos. Ceramic leaves bearing words serve as anchoring points—grounding forces emerging from turbulence.
Simona Mihaela Stoia’s abstract expressionist works masterfully balance spontaneous brushwork with formal composition, creating dynamic pictorial spaces that feel simultaneously wild and ordered. Through her distinctive technique, Stoia’s compositions transform seemingly chaotic brushstrokes into organised visual systems that echo the exhibition’s central theme.
Toninho Dingl’s glass sculpture transforms an everyday, disposable object—a plastic bottle—into a deliberate and challenging form. The crumpled shape preserves the object’s familiarity while elevating its materiality, thereby prompting reconsideration of value and impermanence. Through meticulous craftsmanship, Dingl challenges traditional values and societal conventions. Yizhi Wan’s practice transforms urban decay into acts of intimate restoration by using his own body as both tool and material to repair discarded street furniture.
